6-day Saghro trek : a hike in the south of Morocco, that allows you to discover the pre-Saharan massif of Saghro. The special charm of the Jebel Saghro is mainly due to its exceptional geology from which the variety of its landscapes: the very rugged relief consists of immense and jagged plateaus, high cliffs, deep gorges, steep peaks, towers and tabular escarpments in the middle of which we can find caravans of camels passing by, gorges embellished with bushes of boxwood and monoliths in conglomerates.

From September to May, we invite you to discover a beautiful region in the south of Morocco, the Saghro massif, located in the south of the valley of roses, the last mountain before the valley and Oasis of Draa and vast desert areas.

Djebel Saghro trek  : The Jebel Saghro is a volcanic massif that extends to 2712 m above sea level, with spectacular lunar landscapes, plateaus, peaks and canyons. It is also a land of transhumance, of the Ait Atta tribe Ait and their Bedouin tents and herds of goats.6-day Saghro trek

Itinerary of 6-day Saghro trek

Day 1: Marrakech − Tichka − Ouarzazate − Tagdilt

We will start early in the morning and head towards Ouarzazate via the Tizi N’Tichka pass. En route, we will explore the Dades Valley with its numerous Kasbahs. Continuing southward, we’ll traverse a desert plateau until we reach the village of Tagdilt. Here, we will spend the night with a local host at an altitude of 1650m. The journey will take approximately 6 hours.

Day 2: Tagdilt − Col N’Iferd − Iferd − Plateau of N’Ouarg (2250 m)

The day’s adventure begins with the preparation and loading of the mules for our hike. We will then cross a vast plateau and ascend to the Col of Tizi N’iferd (2400m), offering a splendid view of the Central High Atlas massif from a distance. Next, we’ll descend to the plateau of Iferd where we will set up our bivouac. This plateau is frequently traveled by transhumant semi-nomadic Ait Atta people. We will spend the night in tents at an elevation of 2250m above sea level. The total hiking time will be approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes.

Day 3: Almou N’Ouarg − Kouaouck Summit (2600m) − Igli (1700m)

Today, we embark on a beautiful climb to the summit of Kouaouch (2600m), which requires no technical climbing equipment. Our cook will provide us with a picnic for the journey. Afterward, we will descend via Tassegdilt. Our night’s rest will be in tents in Igli at an altitude of 1700m. Day 4: Igli − Afourar Gorge − Bab n’Ali − Oasis of Ighazzoun

Our route takes us through the Afourar valley, which transforms into gorges as we approach the small oasis of Bouallouz. Continuing on, we will reach Ousdidene, where the vast plateau flanked by the peaks of Bab n’Ali creates a breathtaking landscape. Our hike then leads us to the renowned Bab n’Ali gate and onward to the oasis of Ighazoune, where we will spend the night in tents. The total hiking time for the day is approximately 5 hours.

Day 5: Oasis of Ighazoune − Tifdassine − Handour

At around 8:30 am, we will begin our journey towards the small col of Tifdassine, followed by a descent into the beautiful valley of the same name. Lunch will be served under almond trees before continuing on to the village of Handoure. Night in tents. The total hiking time for the day is approximately 5 hours.

Day 6: Handoure − Ighazoune − Agdez − Ouarzazate − Marrakech

On this day, after expressing our gratitude to the team of muleteers, we will take a path leading us to the city of Nkob and then Agdez before crossing the Tichka pass. A well-deserved lunch awaits us after the crossing. In the afternoon, we will arrive back in Marrakech, concluding the journey with a 7-hour drive.
