Our Saharan adventure commences at the Ras Nkhal palm grove, just outside the small town of M’hamid El Ghizlane, and leads us to the splendid dunes of Erg Zehar. We will traverse the vast wilderness of the Moroccan Sahara, creating unforgettable moments amidst the magic of the desert and its starry nights.

Detailed 6 -Days desert hike morocco Program: 

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – M’Hamid – Ras N’khal

After breakfast, we will embark on a journey toward Ouarzazate, passing through the Tizi N’Tichka pass at an altitude of 2260 meters. We will enjoy a panoramic view of the High Atlas mountains and continue through the Ait Saoune Pass to reach the famous Draa Valley before arriving in the small town of M’Hamid. It’s here that we will meet our team of camel drivers. An approximately one-hour walk will lead us to our camp in the heart of the Ras N’khal dunes. This first day involves 7 hours of driving and 1 hour of walking.

Day 2: Ras N’Khal Palm Grove – Sidi Naji

Following the Oued Draa, often dry in this section, amidst palm groves and tamarisks, we will walk through stunning landscapes. Crossing the Sidi Naji plateau will bring us to the Erg of the same name. We will set up camp among the dunes for an overnight stay in tents. A 5-hour walk will mark this day.

Day 3: Sidi Naji – Erg Zaher Dunes

We will leave the Sidi Naji dunes to enter the vast desert expanses. As far as the eye can see, dunes will dominate the landscape until we reach the large dunes of Erg Zaher. We will explore the dunes overlooking the Draa Valley. Night in tents. A 5-hour and 30-minute walk awaits.

Day 4: Erg Zaher Dunes – Erg Ait Ounir

After breakfast, we will head north towards Ait Ounir. A magnificent day awaits with diverse landscapes including dunes, tamarisks, and acacias. An animation around the fire with Berber music is planned. Night in tents or under the starry sky. A 5-hour and 30-minute walk for this day.

Day 5: Erg Ait Ounir – M’Hamid El Ghizlane

We will ascend the dunes of Erg Ait Ounir and conclude this day of dune trekking in Ras N’khal, at the entrance of the M’Hamid palm grove. An ideal place to spend the night. A 5-hour and 30-minute walk scheduled.

Day 6: M’Hamid – Zagora – Marrakech

After a brief one-hour walk, we will reunite with our minibus near the small town of M’Hamid. The return journey will follow the Draa Valley. We will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon, covering a distance of 460 km.
