Hiking Climbing Toubkal Morocco – Climbing Ascent Toubkal In 3 Days

Hiking in the Toubkal Massif, with its peak at 4167 meters above sea level, is considered the highest mountain in North Africa. This summit is visible from the nearby mountains. Our trek in Toubkal leads us to the discovery of lunar landscapes, through tiny villages set on the mountainside, lined with walnut trees, apple trees, and terraced fields, where the cols are the only passageways, allowing us to go from one valley or village to another.

3-day hiking trip of the Toubkal program :

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil – Trekking starts at Toubkal – Toubkal Refuge.

A short transfer to Imlil early in the morning, where we’ll meet the muleteer(s). We’ll start our hike with a beautiful climb to the village of Aremd, passing through terraced crops and irrigation canals, and then reach the marabout Sidi Chemharouch, to finally arrive at the Toubkal refuge at 3100m of altitude. The walking duration is approximately 5 hours. Night in the refuge.

Day 2: Toubkal Refuge (3100m) – Toubkal climbing (4167m) – Back to the Refuge.

Climbing the highest peak in North Africa is not very difficult. We’ll start our hike early in the morning to enjoy the freshness. From the summit of Toubkal (4167m), we can see the Siroua Massif, as well as the valley of Marrakech. After the climb, we’ll descend and return to the refuge. Tea and lunch will be served at the refuge, and you’ll have a free afternoon. The climbing duration is approximately 3 hours, and the descent takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Day 3: Refuge of Toubkal – Imlil – Marrakech

After breakfast, we’ll descend very slowly by the same mule track to the marabout Sidi Chemharouch (2250m), a revered saint renowned for curing spiritual diseases (King of the Demons), under a rock painted in white. Lunch at Imlil (1750m). The descent will take about 4 hours, and around 1 pm, we’ll return to Marrakech by a 1-hour and 20-minute drive. Total walking duration: 4 hours.
