6-Day Desert Trek Program in Morocco with 4 Days of Hiking

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Zagora – Faija Plateau

Departure towards the High Atlas, passing through the Tichka Pass (2260m), then descending to Ouarzazate for lunch. Afterward, we will head to the oasis of the Draa Valley, where we will meet our group of camel drivers. Dinner and overnight stay in tents. 7 hours of driving.

Day 2: Faija Plateau – Djebel Bani – Diabi Oasis – Oued Lamhasser

Our desert trek begins with a crossing of the Djebel Bani. We will ascend the Col de Foum Laâchar in the mountains of Djebel Bani. Lunch will be prepared by our chef in the shade of the Diabi Oasis. In the afternoon, we will descend the dry riverbed through the gorges of Oued Lemhasser. We will encounter some nomadic families living in Bedouin tents with herds of goats and camels (a very rugged life). Night under the tents or under the stars. 5 hours of hiking.

Day 3: Oued Lamhasser – Bougarne Dunes

After breakfast, we will cross a large rocky plateau before reaching the small dunes of Oued Laatach. Lunch will be enjoyed under the tamarisk trees, and after 1 hour of hiking, we will reach the large dunes of Bougarne. From our bivouac, we can admire the sunset. Night under the tents. 5 hours of hiking for this day.

Day 4: Bougarne Dunes – Oued Naam

We will cross the sandy dunes at the pace of the camels before reaching a desert plateau that will lead us to the small dunes of Kriat Jmel for lunch. Then, an hour of hiking will take us to the dunes of Oued Naam. Not far from the dunes, a well will provide us with water. Night under the tents. 5.5 hours of hiking.

Day 5: Oued Naam – Ras Nkhal

We will leave the dunes of Oued Naam towards the dunes and the palm grove of Ras Nkhal, through landscapes of sandy dunes and hamadas, vast stony desert expanses dotted with volcanic rocks. Last night under the tents. 5 hours of hiking.

Day 6: Ras Nkhal Palm Grove – M’Hamid – Marrakech

The last day of our Morocco desert trek. Return to Marrakech through the magnificent Draa Valley. Then, via Ouarzazate and the Tichka Pass, we will arrive in Marrakech by the end of the day. 450 km.
